CALLIGRAM


 

in this piece, i was tasked with creating an image using the calligram style. calligram is using a word or piece of text in which the design and layout of the letters create a visual image related to the meaning of the words themselves. to start this project i had to write a letter to myself 20 years from now.  after writing the letter, i picked words from that letter to create this final product. 

i thought this was a really cool concept and i know i will enjoy looking back at this and remembering the letter to myself.  i think i could have done a little better on this one.  looking back, i would have blocked out more sections with color to add more dimension to the piece overall.  my mom loved this one!

in this project, i was tasked with taking a photo from color to black and white and then recoloring it using masking tools in photoshop.  i really did not enjoy this one.  the process was cumbersome and tedious, and the technology didn't work that well. i was not happy with the outcome.  i tried, but in the end, it just looks creepy.

AutoScopy

  this image was created with Photoshop using filters and layer blending options.  i started with an original photo and ended with this picture.  the concept was to create an image that tells something about yourself that others might not know.  i am a perfectionist and portrayed this by showing an image of me drawing myself to fit what others want to see. kind of deep for an art project, but it turned out cool.
